As our government joined the WTO (World Trade Organization) in Jan. 2002, the construction industry faced the concussion of an international competitive public market. Construction automation has been one of the key strategies for advancing the construction industry in Taiwan. Especially for the quality management operation of material supplier, relative quality acceptance criteria had been established for improving the standardization of manufacturing operation processes. Since electronic technology is an efficiency solution for improving administration and management, our government keeps developing industry automation and electronic technology for upgrading technology level for all industry. In the past, the development of the automatic and electronic technologies in construction industry was focused on the management technology between owner and contractor. The related studies about material supplier are much fewer. For improving the importance of material supplier in whole civil engineering industry during construction period, this research intends to develop an electronic quality management system for ready-mixed concrete plants. This system also can assist material supplier in performing the relative works on supply chain management and quality certification. The program is constituted by several components: (1) A database of testing specification relative material. (2) An automatic design system for all kinds of concrete mix designs. (3) A database of process mananement. (4) A powerful tool to draw quality control charts. (5) A checking flowchart for relative testing instruments. The computer system is attempted to give assistance to establish fine quality management and to upgrade the technical level and competitiveness of internal ready-mixed concrete plants.
