    Abstract: This paper presents the using of computer-generated hologram with variable spacing grating to deflect the laser beam to produce the magnification of linear displacement. The linear effect can be used as a precision measurement of displacement and thickness. We have designed some optical systems by using this method to measure the thickness of brickbats and glass. Some experimental results are shown.
