河口海域沈積物的分佈除了和河水本身所含懸浮質成份有關外,也受河口淡水舌、潮流、長期平均流等物理因子的影響。以淡水河口為例,河口沈積物中的黑色泥砂成份有向西南方成扇形分佈的趨勢,這種現象是淡水河夾帶的懸浮質在退潮時向外輸出,然後在漲潮時往西南輸送並逐漸沈積,或是隨河口海域殘餘流長期輸送作用而向某一方向沈積,抑或與季節風浪造成的沿岸流有關等等,值得深入探討。另外,外流河水形成的淡水舌其形狀及變化、與外海水之間形成的鋒面、流場結構等,除了可能和海底沈積物分佈有關外,也和河流輸出污染物的擴散有關,本身亦具有物理海洋學研究的價值。因此本研究擬以三維斜壓海洋模式探討淡水河淡水舌之各種動力機制,以及海底沈積物分佈和淡水舌擴張範圍、海流、風場(波浪)等的關係。 Supports are requested for a numerical study of the estuarine plume and sediments distribution and their relationship. The study area is aimed to a partially-mixed estuary, the Tamshui estuary, of northern Taiwan. Preliminary investigations by Hong (2002) suggest that the dark sandy sediments transported from the river form a fan-shaped lobe extending southwestward offshore. The distribution is speculated to be controlled by fluctuation of river plume, tidal residual currents, longshore currents generated from wave breaking, etc.. A suspended sediments advection-diffusion model incorporated with a three-dimensional, baroclinic estuarine circulation model will be developed for studying the dynamics steering the sediments distribution in the Tamshui estuary and the physics of the estuarine plume. 研究期間:9308 ~ 9407
