Poets are living in the cities write what they are conscious of in their works. By researching in the writing of the cities, we understand the poets describe the city, and the interaction between people and the city. This thesis studies the third-generation postwar poets in Taiwan (who were born during 1965-1974). Although the poets have no fear of wars, or suffer from the China nostalgia, they have to deal with many difficult problems in city. From the city experiences and the creation of poets, we can know that they describe the external scenery, and the essence of the cities as well as the collective subconscious of modern people. Poets of the third generation in Taiwan who follow the steps of senior poets, criticize Taiwanese society, and show their own feelings. By way of textual analysis and cultural studies, this thesis argues the writing of the cities in term of space, time and modern people. I would evaluate the writing of the cities by the third-generation postwar poets in the history of Taiwan Modern Poetry.
