    Abstract: 本研究計畫-「利用經驗正交模分析探討東亞氣候的多重尺度交互作用」,是「東亞氣候的多重尺度交互作用」整合型計畫的第三子計畫。本計畫的主要動機是希望嘗試利用個人最近發展出的經驗正交模分析方法(empirical normal mode analysis),來探討東亞氣候變異中不同尺度間交互作用的主要型態與機制。本計畫預計分三年執行。第一年的主要目標是探討不同空間尺度間的交互作用。我們將著重於分析台灣氣候與東亞氣候之間和東亞氣候與全球氣候之間的交互作用。第二年的主要目標是探討年際變化與旬年際變化之間的交互作用。我們將著重於分析與台灣和東亞氣候最有關的全球氣候的年際變化與旬年際變化之間的交互作用。第三年的主要目標是探討年循環與年際變化之間的交互作用。我們將著重於分析東亞氣候年循環的主要振盪模與年際變化之間的交互作用。本計畫預計使用的研究方法主要有(1) 極大共變異分析(Maximum Covariance Analysis) 和 (2) ENMA 分析。極大共變異分析主要是用於分析不同空間尺度間的共變異性。真正用於分析與探討有關多重尺度交互作用的是ENMA 分析方法。我們將藉由windowed ENMA 的步驟來分析與探討有關多重尺度交互作用的特性、主要波動結構與動力機制。經由本計畫的執行,我們預期對於東亞氣候的多重尺度交互作用將會有更深入的瞭解。同時,我們也預期將對於東亞地區的短期氣候預報的進展會有一定的貢獻。「The application of empirical normal mode analysis to study multiscale interaction in the East Asian climate」 is the third subproject of the 「Multiscale Interaction in East Asian Climate」 integrated project. The main motivation of this project is to apply the recent developed empirical normal mode analysis method to investigate the dominant multiscale interaction and associated mechanisms in East Asian Climate. In the first year, the main goal is study the spatial scale interaction among Taiwan, East Asia region, and the whole globe. In the second year, the main focus will be the temporal interaction between the interannual variability and interdecadal variability. In the third year, the main goal is to study the interaction between the annual cycle variability and the interannual variability. The primary analysis methods will be the maximum covariance analysis (MCA)and the empirical normal mode analysis (ENMA). The MCA will be mainly applied to study the spatial covariability among Taiwan, East Asia region, and the whole globe. The ENMA and windowed ENMA will be used to study the characteristics, major modes and possible mechanisms of the multiscale interaction in East Asian Climate. Because the ENMA and associated analysis are new and promising methods, through this study, I believe that we can gain more inside understanding about the multiscale interaction in East Asian Climate. Furthermore, I expect that this study will also make significant contribution to the improvement of short range climate forecast in this region. 研究期間:9508 ~ 9607
