    Title: 台灣實驗性大氣移動式X波段雙偏極化雷達維護計畫;The Maintenance Project for Taiwan Experimental Atmospheric Mobile X-Band Dual-Polarization (Team X-Pol) Radar

    Abstract: 台灣目前環繞全島有八部陸基式都卜勒氣象雷達,分別屬於中央氣象局四部(五分山、花蓮、墾丁、七股),空軍二部(綠島、台中清泉崗),民航局一部(桃園國際機場),中央大學大氣科學系一部(中壢)。由於島上地形複雜,山脈高聳,使得這些雷達都有觀測死角,對於山區或是近地表大氣結構的觀測,往往付之闕如。而一部移動式的雷達,對這個問題可提供相當程度的解決。另外由中央大學大氣系雙偏極化氣象雷達近年來的研究顯示,此種雷達可以反演雨滴粒徑分佈、精確估計降雨、進行降雨粒子分類,因此在雲物理等科學研究以及防災應用上都有極大的幫助。有鑑於此,國科會已於2006年正式核准以「大型核心研究設施計畫」經費,建置國內第一部實驗性大氣移動式X波段雙偏極化都卜勒雷達(Taiwan Experimental Atmospheric Mobile X-band Dual-Polarization Radar; TEAM X-POL)。本計畫的目的即在於向國科會申請雷達建置完成後,每年後續的雷達維護費用。本年度的申請還包括利用2008年參與西南氣流實驗的機會,以詳細測試此雷達性能的運轉費。 Currently there are eight ground-based Doppler radars around Taiwan. They are operated by the CWB (4), Air force (2), CAA (1), and NCU (1), respectively. However, there are very limited radar observations in mountainous area and of low level atmosphere, due to the serious blockage of the complex terrains. It is believed that the introduction of a mobile radar can help to mitigate this problem to a considerable extent. In addition, the recent experiences of analyzing NCU dual-polarization radar data clearly indicate that this type of radar is capable of retrieving the drop size distribution, providing accurate QPE, and classifying hydrometeors. Thus, the dual-polarization capability will be extremely helpful in terms of cloud physics research and disaster prevention. Because of the aforementioned reasons, in 2006 the National Science Council has formally approved to support the building of the first mobile X-band dual-polarization Doppler radar. This radar has been named as Taiwan Experimental Atmospheric Mobile X-band Dual-Polarization Radar (TEAM X-POL). The purpose of this proposal is to apply the funding for the following regular maintenance after the construction of this mobile radar is completed. This mobile radar』s performance will be carefully investigated during the Southwest Monsoonal Flow Experiment (SoWMEX). Therefore in this year』s application the radar operational fees during SoWMEX are also included. 研究期間:9608 ~ 9707
