本論文研究主要分成兩個系列。所有化合物經由1H-NMR、13C-NMR與元素分析鑑定其結構及純度;液晶相性質則是利用POM來觀察相種類、DSC測量相變化時之溫度與熱焓值以及變溫XRD確認相的種類。 系列一中描述以(Z)-3-(6,7-bis(alkoxy)naphthalen-2-yl) -3-hydroxyacrylaldehyde為主結構與不同的amine合成出一系列的配位基,再與不同金屬(Pd, Cu, Ni, Zn)進行配位形成金屬錯合物,改變其萘環上側鏈基的支數,討論其液晶相的變化。 系列二為探討不同取代基對液晶相的影響。利用取代基常數、電負度以及dipole moment說明液晶相形成的原因,發現當末端取代基為拉電子基產生SmA相,若為推電子基則會產生nematic。 Two series of mesogenic compounds were prepared and studied in this thesis. All compounds described were characterized via 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and elemental analysis. The mesophases were studied and investigated by POM, DSC, and the structures of the mesophases were also confirmed by variable temperature X-ray diffraction experiments. In the first series , we succeed to synthesize the (Z)-3-(6,7-bis(alkoxy)naphthalen-2-yl)-3-hydroxyacrylaldehyde derivatives and their complexes(Pd, Cu, Ni, Zn).The different mesomorphic properties were studied through coordinating with different metals. In the second series, the effect of substituent group on the formation of the mesophases were investigated by Hammett constant, electronegativity and dipole moment. A SmA phase was observed for derivatives with a strong electrondrawing substituent, and a N phase was observed for the derivative with an electrondonating substituent.
