摘要: The effects of soil surface roughness play a significant role in the microwave emission from the surface. Therefore, a good parameterization of the effects is a prerequisite for retrieving surface soil moisture information. With recent physical model developments, the advanced integral equation model (AIEM) has been proven to provide accurate representation over a wide range of surface-roughness conditions. We evaluated the capability of the AIEM model in simulating multiangular surface emission signals in comparison with a field experiment data set. A simplified multiangular surface emission model was developed based on simulated database using the AIEM model. Based on the parameterized model, an inversion procedure was developed using dual-polarization microwave brightness temperatures to retrieve soil moisture. Two data sets were used to test the inversion algorithm, and the accuracies in root-mean-square error were about 4% for incidence angles from 20 degrees to 50 degrees. This new simple model is suitable for soil moisture retrieval from future L-band satellite data.
