As fountain pen is evolved from the western writing culture, the impact of the modern western culture on the traditional Taiwanese society and the change of writing instruments in Taiwan with the integration of modern western culture will be elaborated in this paper. Besides, from points of view of the sales and the manufacturing of pen and the economic and cultural impact on the community , the development of fountain pen in Taiwan will also be discussed.    During Japanese colonial period, Fountain pen was under the lead of Taiwanese Governor introduced into Taiwan along with the modern western ideology and education system which were enthusiastically promoted during Meji Restoration. Since then, Han people ,who traditionally used the writing brush, gradually changed to use the steel pen. Such change was kind of contribution to modernize Taiwan’s society. In view of this aspect, being different from historical events coming up with dramatic and notable turning points, many of social cultures imperceptibly and gradually evolve to the other new side.    In Japanese occupation era, all of the fountains in Taiwan were absolutely imported from Japan. At the end of the world war II, Japanese surrendered Taiwan to Chinese government, the source of the fountain pens changed to depend on foreign imports. Nevertheless, the fountain pen was the major writing instrument in Taiwan during the decades from 1950 to 1970. The role of a substance in human society, not driven by any individual, is led by the trend for appearance and step-down. Such tendency is actually kind of momentum for human evolution.      Along with the debut of the fountain pen in the world and integration into the community, the new culture came up in the community. Hence, pen in Taiwan society, one noun standing for one substance, turned into kind of meaning or form, which are woven into the whole pen culture.
