因為經濟發展，人們的文化需求隨之增高，尋找在地塵封往事引發人們高度興趣。網路資源往往是一般大眾獲取地方歷史知識的便捷管道，所以地方史資料庫最好兼具正確及普及的條件。中壢地區擁有獨特的歷史及產業發展軌跡，雖然網路上有諸多桃園地區的資料，但中壢區域史資料庫較為缺乏。如果將史學與電腦科技結合，可以使歷史成為準確可信且方便流傳的知識。此外，社會中仍有不會、不諳、不方便及不能操作鍵盤的人。若能透過聲音的辨識查詢電腦，除了能更方便一般人學習臺灣這塊土地上的歷史及社會生活知識外，還能解決電腦弱勢族群「知」的需求。然而截至目前，國內尚無同時具有適合一般人使用及提供語音查詢功能的區域史資料庫。本計畫為一跨領域研究計畫，結合歷史及語音專業，以語音問答、文字說明講述及視聽等多功能方式呈現中壢地區歷史沿革及產業發展。本計畫第一年以中壢地區歷史沿革為主題，蒐集史料，制訂關鍵詞並以多媒體銓釋詞彙之意義及內容，然後賦予語音查詢及可查閱可朗讀資料的功能。第二年，以中壢地區產業發展為主題製作資料庫，並結合第一年成果，完成中壢地區歷史與產業展智慧型語音查詢資料庫。 ; This will be a two-year project. It consists of the combination of two specialized fields, namely, the science of history and the technology of speech processing. The research of the historical field will be concerned with the collection, analysis and interpretation of the historical materials of Jhongli in the first year and in the second year the historical data of industrial development of Jhongli. The research of speech processing field will deal with the design of a keyword-spotting speech recognition system. Then, the integration on the results obtained by these two fields will be conducted to develop an intelligent speech enquiry system for investigating the history and industrial development of Jhongli. A voice synthesizer will also be included in the integrated intelligent system. At length, through a serious of properly designed dialogues, the system will extract the keywords for data mining of the related historical materials in the established database.
