This study for the first time reports wavy signatures in the vertical profile from 150 km to 600km observed by FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC (F-3/ COSMIC) during 9 pronounced magnetic storms in 2008 to 2011. Total electron content (TEC), gradient TEC (dTEC) and electron density are used in this study. The profiles in the quiet time and disturbed periods are subdivided into four sectors, noon, dusk, midnight, and dawn, to find wavy characteristics. Wavelet transformation is applied to examine profiles before and during the storm period. Above 300km, the ionosphere becomes very structured, and the amplitude of 15~30km-wavelength fluctuations significantly enhances during the storm period, especially high latitude region. The consistency between the change of geomagnetic index and disturbance of ionosphere suggest that the energy input from polar region, electric field, and magnetic field plays an important role.
