研究期間:10303~10402;The magnetopause is the thin boundary between the magnetosheath and the magnetosphere. Physical processes that occur in the magnetosheath and magnetosphere can affect the magnetopause. The solar wind mass and energy can transfer into the magnetosphere through the magnetopause, affecting humanity in space and on Earth. The aims of the proposed project are to promote an international cooperation between Taiwan and Czech Republic, and advance our understandings of the structure and dynamics of the magnetopause. The Taiwanese and Czech teams have unique expertise and will propose different tasks on the same theme of the magnetopause. The tasks proposed by the Czech team are related to the physical processes that affect the magnetopause from the magnetosheath. The tasks proposed by the Taiwanese teams are related to the physical processes that affect the magnetopause from the magnetosphere. All the tasks are complementary and targeted to maximize the performance of the research that a single team cannot achieve. With such cooperation, we believe that our expertise will be extended and we will be much more productive in research. The proposed outputs of the research include a modeling of the magnetopause in terms of solar wind conditions, sources of the magnetospheric plumes and their role on the magnetopause, and responses of the magnetopause to solar wind transients and magnetospheric events. These outputs are keys to an improvement for the accuracy of space weather predictions. The scientific outputs will be published mainly in prestigious journals in Space Physics. Scientific results derived from this cooperation are shared with each other. Both sides publish coauthoring papers based on the shared results in conferences and journals.
