研究期間:10108~10207;This project is a continuation of the applicant’s 2010 project ‘The Study on the Prosody of Li Shangyin’s Poetry’, as well as part of the series papers of his ongoing publication “The Study on Li Shangyin’s Prosody”. The focus of current academic research on Li Shangyin’s poetry leans on the affective domain rather than on the form. A tremendous poet as Li Shangyin was whose achievements paralleled those of Du Fu in terms of poetic composition, prosody, and diction, this negligence of academic circles which fails to make further research on Li Shangyin’s poetry left a gap on the study of classical poetry. Accordingly, it is the applicant’s attempt to fill in the blank and look into Li Shangyin’s poetic composition following the study on the prosody. The poetry critiques in the past placed emphasis on the diction, syntax, and composition in particular, which is why the literary critique Wenxin Diaolong contributes one chapter on the discourse of poetic composition. Moreover, the study of the composition and syntax should not be reduced to mechanical deconstructing and categorizing but reveal the inner connotation, which corresponds to Liu Xie’s proposition of ‘the summarization of a chapter’. In other words, the study on the organization of poetry is to demonstrate the semantics and aesthetics of the poetic text through unveiling the changes in composition and syntax, so that readers are able to obtain deeper understanding and appreciation. In this regard, the applicant will refer to former researchers’ poetry annotations to peruse Li Shangyin’s poetry and corroborate his unique composition method. The aim of this project is to deepen the understanding of the aesthetics of Li Shangyin’s poetry and acknowledge his contributions to the art of poetic form.
