    Abstract: 研究期間:10108~10207;Taiwan, as a responsible member of international community, is facing the mounting pressure from acting on global warming issues. Action plans have been under-taken at all levels in the governmental and private sectors. Emission assessments of green house gases (GHGs) will play a central role in these actions which ultimately lead to controlling emissions of GHCs. Analytical techniques capable of assessing their ambient levels with adequate accuracy and precision are a necessity for the assessments. As a result, our research for the next 3 years mainly focuses on the development of analytical and monitoring techniques for GHGs at ambient levels; these GHGs include CO2, CH4, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), hydroflurorcarbons (HFCs), and perfluorocarbons (PFCs). Automated gas chromatography and mass spectrometry will serve as the technical bases for measuring target GHGs. New materials will be incorporated into gas chromatographic techniques. We employed mesoporous silicates both as separation and enrichment materials. MCM-41 and MCM-48 silicates have shown promising results as on-line enrichment sorbents for automated analysis of trace level volatile organic compounds (VOCs). When used as separation medium, they showed excellent characteristics for separating CO2 from other gases, with additional advantages of resolution and speed. These novel techniques will be used on our newly developed GC systems and inter-compared with existing commercial instruments.
