研究期間:10111~10207;This decade will be a “Decade of Time-Domain Astronomy”, as the astronomical community will be flooded with time-domain data from various large scale astronomical survey projects. A project with a main objective to harvest time-domain data for the application of (pulsating) variable stars research is proposed, with the goals of provide better understanding of these variable stars in the context of astrophysics and modern cosmology, as well as initiating and promoting time-domain astronomy in Taiwan. Data used in this project includes on-going and archival surveying data, either publicly available or the host institution of the P.I. has access to, with mainly focused on the time series data from Pan-STARRS1, PTF and the TAOS project. In addition, follow-up observations at various observatories will be included to construct complete light and radial velocity for the new variable stars found. A range of scientific topics for pulsating variable stars will be investigated using these time series data is included, but they do not represent the only scientific topics that can be done in this project. These topics span from finding new variables to calibration of the period-luminosity relations for future distance scale works.
