研究期間:10108~10207;During last decade, magnetosheath plasma jets attract a great scientific interest. The jets are non-stationary structures of fast and dense plasma streams whose kinetic energy density is several times higher than that in the upstream solar wind. The dimension of jets is of the order of Earth’s radius, and duration varies from tens of seconds to a few minutes. Interaction of jets with the magnetopause can result in effective penetration of the magnetosheath plasma into the magnetosphere. Physical processes of jet generation and related solar wind conditions as well as jet interaction with the magnetopause are subjects of intense scientific investigations in the present time. In the proposed study, based on our previous results, we will analyze several case events of THEMIS observations of the plasma jets and magnetosheath plasma penetrated inside the magnetosphere. Mechanisms of the jet generation and plasma penetration will be investigated with using 3-D hybrid and particle-in-cell codes.
