研究期間:10108~10207;The island has a quite high seismicity and an active deformation. In addition, after the random developing and abuse of the natural resources without any soil and water conservations, fatal disasters caused by landslides, such as debris flows, have significantly increased recently as the frequency of extreme rainfalls. Many debris flows countries are all studying some method to detect debris flows and develop an early warning system. During Typhoon Morakot hitting Taiwan on 8 August 2009, 52 seismic events associated with landslides and submarine slumps were detected by long period seismic signals recorded by the BATS (Broadband Array in Taiwan for Seismology) in Taiwan. Lin et al. (2010) located successfully the source of the Hsiaolin Village fatal landslide event. Thus, it should be possible to obtain a comprehensive record of the location, timing and magnitude of floods, debris flows and mass wasting in a landscape from a dense broadband seismic network. In this proposal, a dense broadband seismic network will be deployed around the Chenyoulan catchment to determine rapidly of the locations and occurrence times of large landslides. We attempt to develop a near real‐time warning system for debris flows for mitigating landslide disasters and saving the people life and property
