研究期間：10208~10307;This is a three year research project. It focuses on the problems of the construction of a new Confucian theory of democracy of the contemporary Neo-Confucians offered by the late Professors Tang Chun-I, Mou Tsung-San and Tsui Fou-Kuan, and tries to identify their succession and difference. This project will include the study of the development of the theory in pre-Chin Confucian texts such as The Analects,Mencius,Chung-yong and The Great Learning, so as to determine the special elements and orientations of the model of Confucian political theory. This study will make an in-depth comparison of Confucian political theory with the main currents and basic conceptions of political philosophies of the West. It aims to expand the vision and improve the perspective of Confucianism as well as provide some resolution and critical observations of those dilemmas that modern western liberalism encountered in the present world. This project will evaluate comments on Confucian political theory so as to develop further and complete the modernization of Confucianism. Lastly, I shall propose a new theory and a global value that could transcend the limitation of the theory of democracy of the west which built upon independent nations towards a global theory of democracy.
