Abstract: 研究期間:10305~10312;“Taiwan Bridge Management System (TBMS)” has been used for more than 13 years since its establishment in 2000. In order to reinforce the abilities of TBMS in assessing bridges’ capabilities of resistance to floods, earthquakes, and loading, and bridges’ deterioration conditions, Institute of Transportation (IOT) issued the project of “Planning and Establishment of the 2nd generation of Taiwan Bridge Management System (TBMS2)” in 2013. The TBMS2 project was conducted by National Central University (NCU) in which research efforts were focusing on the development of component-based, mobilization-based, and custom-based functions. NCU research team planned the system architecture and functions of TBMS2 based on literature reviews, expert interviews and seminars. There are two systems in TBMS2, a main system running on a network server and an application software (App) running on tablets for bridge inspection. The main system is able to generate three dimensional (3D) bridge models for common concrete bridges based on their basic data. In addition, six functional modules have been implemented in the main system: (1) Basic Data Module, (2) Inspection Data Module, (3) Maintenance Records Module, (4) Statistics Module, (5) Condition Analyzing Module, and (6) Management Functions Module. In the bridge inspection App (iOS version), there are four major functions: (1) automated generation of 3D bridge models for common concrete bridges, (2) component-based visual inspection of bridges, (3) auxiliary deterioration photos for deterioration assessment, and (4) automatic uploading of inspection results to the TBMS main system. The App is available for downloading for authorized users. Three sessions of TBMS2 training courses were conducted in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung last year. Research tasks of TBMS2 in 2014 will be focusing on improvements of the main system and the bridge inspection App. In the main system, the improvements include: (1) generation of 3D bridge models for special bridges, (2) modification of Basic Data Module for special bridges, (3) modification of Inspection Data Module for special bridges, (4) implementation of management functions after disasters, (5) implementation of Decision-support Module, (6) implementation of Data Exchange Module, (7) implementation of Disaster Prevention Information Module, and (8) implementation of Geographical Information Module. In the App, in addition to similar improvements for special bridges, two tasks are needed (1) maintenance of the existing App (for TBMS), and (2) implementation of new Apps in both iOS and Android versions for the main system of TBMS2. After TBMS2 are completed, three sessions of training courses will also be conducted in in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. Finally, promotion strategies for use of TBMS2 will also be proposed in this project.
