    Abstract: 石化能源可以被我們用來做為燃料、化學原料及能源,然而,由於人們過度的使用,這些石化原料在世界上蘊含量越來越少,積極尋找可替代的方案便成了科學家們的目標。植物本身富含木質素、纖維素和半纖維素,纖維素可以被拿來做為生質能源使用,木質素則是可經由生質精煉的方式供給許多化學原料。因此,使用木質纖維取代石化原料的研究近年來也發展的越來越快速。
    ;Fossil fuels can be used as a chemical and energy source. Due to high demand and constant decrease of known oil reserves many scientist have focused their research to find alternatives for supplementing this finite resource. Plants itself are rich in lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose. On the one hand cellulose as a biomass can be converted into energy, on the other hand lignin has the capacity to supply many chemical raw materials by biomass processing. Therefore, the replacement of petrochemical feedstock has been the center of attention for many researchers in recent years.
    The present work is divided into two parts.The first part deals with the C-O-bond cleavage of the compound 2-phenoxy-1-phenylethanone by the use of copper hydroxide and the ligand 1,10-phenanthroline.The second part covers the cleavage reaction of the secondary alcohol derivative 2-phenoxy-1-phenylethanol.By considering the principles of green chemistry, we used cheap and enviromentally friendly copper catalyst without addition of oxidants or reducing agents. The reactions were carried out under ambient temperatures and atmospheric pressure. Under those safe and cost-efficient conditions the C-O bonding cleavage reaction of the both β-aryl ether high conversion and selectivity could be observed. Also by this method the decomposition product phenol could be obtained in good yields.
