    Abstract: 為了因應需求日增的高畫質與高解析視訊應用,下一代視訊壓縮標準:高效率視訊編碼 (High Efficiency Video Coding, HEVC)已在2013年完成標準制定。HEVC提供了相當高彈性的編碼區塊選擇及多項更為先進的編碼工具,在相同的主觀視訊品質下,HEVC可提供比H.264/AVC高一倍的壓縮效率。 伴隨著壓縮效能的大幅提升,HEVC也因此造成了編碼端極高的運算複雜度,雖然隨著硬體設施及雲端運算概念的發展,使用者可用的運算資源已較過去大幅提升,然而在現今強調綠色通訊的時代,我們仍應注重能;To meet the increasing demand of high quality and high resolution video applications, the next generation video compression standard, named as High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), has been finalized in 2013.
