;From gift to messiah—the question of gift in the thought of DerridaThis project, grounded on the previous research Derrida’s Analysis of Plato’s Khôra, extends Derrida’s analysis of khôra in Plato’s Timaeusto discuss the issue concerning don/gift and donner/give. Such an issue involves the questions of donner/give as an event and the related boundary line. In other words, this project will be a discussion about the origin of the possibility and impossibility of donner/give.This project plans to firstly analyze “don/gift” and the double structure of death as a gift and then discusses the death’s decision. Finally, this project will discuss the debate between the phenomenologist Marion and Derrida. The discussion of the debate allows us to see the difference between the deconstruction of don/gift and the phenomenology of don/gift, thereby enriching the philosophical meaning of don/gift.The discussion and understanding of the origin of Derrida’s “possible/impossible” ethical decision help to clarify the “ontology as the event of donner/give” originated from Heidegger on the one hand and advance our understanding of Derrida’s Jewish choice and ethical questions on the other.
