New wireless network technologies are developing constantly and network management has become an important issue to manage various network equipments. Wi-Fi is a ripe wireless access technology, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) proposed the Wi-Max broadband wireless access technology with high speed access rate and wide coverage and will replace the traditional wired networks to become the “first mile” in 1999. As the development of these two wireless technologies, traditional network management systems have to be improved so as to manage wireless networks. The Wi-Max technology should have an influence of a certain degree to the wireless networks. Many scholars and researches consider that The Wi-Max technology will not replace the the wireless technologies of the 3G and Wi-Fi. Contrarily, it will be side by side with them [1] . It must have a mechanism to manage the different wireless networks and make the network managers control and monitor the network equipments, easily. This paper proposed a Wi-Fi and Wi-Max Integrated Wireless Network Management System (WWWNMS) and implemented the system in National Central University (NCU) and National Chi Nan University (NCNU), hierarchically. In each campus, there is a local WWWNMS managing itself Wi-Fi and Wi-Max devices. Local WWWNMS reports updated network information to WWWNMS periodically. The hierarchical system has the benefit of scalability. This system is not only capable of providing an easy way for Wi-Fi and Wi-Max wireless network monitor and control, but also detecting the illegal Wi-Fi Access Points (AP). Moreover, the proposed system uses the available network resources that the network management server can access the internet and without extra cost, it can trace the location of users via Wi-Fi wireless networks.
