AbstractThis study aims to explore the situation of the Hakka learning motives and learning satisfaction of primary school students in Keelung City as well as the differences and relevance between the two aspects for students with different background. The researcher adopted the questionnaire method for data collection and sent 320 sampling questionnaires to high-grade students in primary schools in Keelung City, who were regarded as the parent population of the research. The total number of valid return was 306, and the valid usable return rate was 95.6%. The returned questionnaire data were then processed and analyzed with such statistic methods as descriptive analysis, T-test, Single-factor analysis of variance, Pearson product moment correlation to get the primary results and for further in-depth interviews. According to the data analysis, this study comes to the following conclusions:1. Among the Hakka learning motives of the primary school students in Keelung City, the “value component” ranks first, followed by the “expectation component” and the lowest is “affective component”2. Among the Hakka learning satisfaction aspects of the primary school students in Keelung City, the highest is in “teaching”, followed by “learning effects” and the lowest is “curriculum materials”3. Male and female students in primary schools in Keelung City showed obvious disparities in Hakka learning motives but the disparities are not because of grades, who to make the choice of Hakka learning, the ethnic groups of their parents, their recognition of their own classes or their principle languages used in daily life.4. Male and female students learning different text books in primary schools in Keelung City showed obvious disparities in Hakka learning motives but the disparities are not because of grades, who to make the choice of Hakka learning decisions, the ethnic groups of their parents, their recognition of their own classes or their principle languages used in daily life.5. There is a significantly positive correlation between the Hakka learning motives and learning satisfaction of primary school students in Keelung City   Finally, some suggestions based on the study results were proposed for the references of education authorities, schools, teachers, students as well as future researches.
