    Abstract: 本研究希望探索與分析跨國性社群(transnational communities)、認同建構與網路使用之間流動、交錯以及辯證分歧的文化關係。隨著當代跨國性社群的蓬勃發展,許多新的文化社會現象因應出現,特別對於「跨國性社群」如何在與新文化及新媒體的互動及交互影響下,去經驗其分裂而複雜的日常文化議題,並維護實踐其文化權等,有著更多探索與分析的需要。因此,本研究的核心在於傳播新科技與跨國性社群如何開啟了一個新的研究角度,刺激我們去重新思考認同內涵之形構、少數民族之文化與傳播權、文化混雜與流動、族群再現與重構、新民族主義、及傳播新科技使用(特別是網路)之間的關係等問題。族群與媒體的流動兩者是相互連結的現象;全球媒體的發展為跨國社群打開一個新的意義產製領域,使得他們跨越不同文化背景與社會脈絡,不斷重新定義、協商與建構新的、以及變異性更高的文化認同。因此,在全球化的時代裡,大眾媒體,特別是電子媒體與網路,提供資源與素材給每一個個體不斷去形塑與想像自己的認同,選擇與形成集體的歷史記憶。因此,本研究將以兩個美國的台灣社群:台灣移民與留學生為例,探討跨國性社群的網路使用狀況、與國家認同的轉換過程、文化經驗與社會互動之間錯綜複雜的關係。 ; This research will explore and analyze the relationship among transnational communities, national identities, and internet use. With the rapid increase in transnational communities, many new social phenomena, such as the development of cultural hybridity and the reconstruction of multiple identities, push researchers in the social sciences to examine how transnational communities experience their complex and fractured everyday life. Therefore, the core of this research is to consider how transnational communities provide a new perspective for reconsidering national identity, migration, cultural hybridity, ethnic representation, and media use (such as Internet use). The formation of transnational communities is partially relative to the development of global media. Global media opens a new venue for transnational communities to negotiate and redefine their identities, and furthermore to exchange and share their various life experiences across different national boundaries and social contexts. Furthermore, mass media provides individuals with the various opportunities and resources needed to create and represent their identities, and to continuously choose and form collective memories. This research will examine case studies of two different Taiwanese transnational communities: first generation Taiwanese‐Americans, and Taiwanese students in the United States. The case studies will explore how these communities use the Internet to maintain and negotiate their identity, share life experience, and maintain social interaction. Furthermore, the case studies will help clarify the complex relationship among identity, cultural change, and media use across the national boundaries between Taiwan and the United States. ; 研究期間 9708 ~ 9807
