研究期間:10108~10207;Research philosophy and summary of this project: Although plenty of -conjugated compounds (oligomers or polymers) have been widely applied in the field of organic optoelectronics, their synthetic strategies are generally based on traditional cross-coupling reactions. It is very common that the synthetic pathways are neither atom-economical nor efficient. On the other hand, there are lots of new synthetic procedures being developed every day but they never targeted on functional 兀-conjugated materials. Hence, our research philosophy is to bridge the research area of fundamental organic synthetic methodologies with applied science of organic materials, in other word, we will proceed toward the research goal of target-oriented and atom-economical organic synthetic methodologies. Firstly, we will endeavor to investigate the transition-metal catalyzed direct C-H bond arylations using readily prepared orgaozincs, organozincates, organocuprates, organoaluminum, or organoindium species as new arylating reagents. In addition, less toxic and inexpensive transition-metal catalysts such as copper or iron complexes will be also examined in the direct C-H coupling reactions. As mid- and long-term objectives, we will apply the well-optimized synthetic methodology of C-H bond arylations in the efficient preparation of functional -conjugated molecules including: (1) donor-acceptor type organic dyes, and (2) polymers. Furthermore, device fabrication and efficiency measurement of organic solar cells will be achieved through on-campus collaborations.
