Abstract: 研究期間:10108~10207;In this three-year project, we planned to develop a series of optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) whose spectral narrowing and tuning mechanism is electro-optically active and simultaneously whose output spectra can be engineered for multi-wavelength generation. These novel OPOs are to be realized based on the integration of the nonlinear-optic and electro-optic (EO) properties of quasi-phase-matching (QPM) materials including the periodically and aperiodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN and APPLN) crystals. We propose in the first project year the development of an electro-optically tunable, multi-wavelength OPO in APPLN of unbalanced domain-polarity length ratio, while in the second project year a PPLN OPO whose output spectrum can be electro-optically manipulated for multiple spectral-peak generation and tuning via three monolithically cascaded APPLN EO filters will then be studied and constructed, and finally in the third project year we will challenge the goal of developing a dual-wavelength, traveling-wave OPO in a linear cavity composing of an APPLN optical parametric gain medium sandwiched by two APPLN EO polarization mode converters and two volume Bragg grating (VBG) mirrors. We believe, to the best of our knowledge, these OPOs are the first schemes being bringing up to realize a tunable, narrow-line/ single-frequency, multi-wavelength light source. This is a project that devotes to the development of novel and practical light sources potential for versatile applications including the spectroscopy, optical communication, lidar, remote sensing, bio-medicine, interferometry, holographic systems, etc.
