摘要: | 研究期間:10108~10207;In the future, learning, gaming, and working will blur. For example, students’ learning in schools may resemble working in the adult’s society, endeavoring to improve their living quality, financial statuses, interpersonal relationships, social statuses, and others. In this proposal, we plan to build a game-based online learning community, called Pet-Planet, based on our past experience in developing the online learning community EduCity and intended to form a foundation for the second generation of EduCity. In the future, many learning materials and activities in classroom will be in the form ‘content games’ to engage students in improving their fantasy representation, promoting their own social statuses, or pursuing other significant values in the ‘game world’. In other words, students go to and fro between two tiers: the tier of content games and the tier of game world, participating activities in these two tiers. Thus, the content games engage students to ‘work’ (learn) to earn their living while game world offers opportunities for them to reside in and seek for precious things they cannot easily find in the real world—building self-confidence, developing self-identity, establishing social status, among others. In sum, the objective of this proposal is to investigate how to design such ‘two-tier’ architecture for a game-based online learning community that engages students in the ‘content games’ and the ‘game world’. In addition, we also plan to do experiments with a few primary school classes to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of the architecture. We hope the work of this proposal will lead us to understand more the future relations and development of network learning communities. |
