    Abstract: 偶氮苯化合物具有光致異構化的性質,在10-3M 時有碳長鏈取代
    的偶氮苯(AZO-1,4,6,8,10),會有順式和反式共存。如果改變偶氮苯的
    濃度,可以發現隨濃度變化,順式和反式偶氮苯的比例也會隨著改變。
    而當濃度低於10-2M 時,順式偶氮苯分率上升,而反式偶氮苯分率下
    降。在順式與反式異構化行為的動力學研究中,我們發現其異構化的
    反應速率常數與濃度有相當大的關係,當濃度大於10-2M 時,反應速
    率常數不會有太大的變化。我們認為這是因為具有碳長鏈的偶氮苯分
    子在10-2M 以上時,會聚集產生微胞,而使得反式偶氮苯不易轉變成
    順式偶氮苯,而在10-2M 以下時,反應速率常數會有急遽變化,這是
    因為稀釋狀態下,偶氮苯衍生物以單分子形式存在,容易進行光異構
    化的反應。;The azobenzene compounds exhibit a photoisomerization property. For solution of azobenzene derivatives carrying an alkyl-chain (AZO-1,4,6,8,10) with concentration less than 10-3 M, there are coexistence of cis and trans isomers. The cis to trans isomer ratio of azobenzenes changes according to the concentration of azobenzene.
    When the concentration of azobenzene is lower than 10-2 M, we found that the population of cis isomer increases and that of trans isomer decreases. In our experiments relevant to the dynamical studies on isomerization between the cis and trans forms, we found that rate
    constants for the isomerization vary with the concentrations of azobenzene, indeed. When the concentration of azobenzene is greater than 10-2 M, the rate constants would not change much. The rationale to this observation is that azobenzene derivatives with an alkyl-chain would likely aggregate into micelles above 10-2 M. The trans form in micelles is more difficult to proceed with photoisomerization to become cis form. When the concentration of azobenzene is lower than 10-2 M, the rate constants change drastically, attributable to the fact that the azobenzene derivatives likely exist as monomeric units and are easier to isomerize photolytically.
