Critical infrastructure systems include electric power, water distribution, transportation and telecommunication facilities and are important elements in maintaining human economic activities and country development. In critical infrastructure systems, electricity transmission systems are the most important element among all the others.
In recent years, the electricity transmission systems have been stressed by increasing natural hazards and human errors, leading to malfunction. The electricity transmission systems are the main study target of this research. The simulation of the dependences between infrastructures by the electricity transmission systems can be applied to estimation of the critical infrastructure systems. Disaster mitigation officials can employ the proposed approach to explore critical infrastructure interdependency (CII) and to design countermeasures when a disaster hits certain areas. |
