dc.description.abstract | Due to the aging population and low fertility, the proportion of aged population in Taiwan has passed the threshold of 7% in 1993, which makes Taiwan, as a country, qualified as an “aging society”based on the definition proposed by United Nations. In spite of Taiwanese government’s effort of launching a Ten-year Long-term Care Plan in 2007, the services provided by the public care plan are still insufficient in meeting the needs of the Taiwanese seniors. Commercial long-term care insurance plans, as the supplement of public care plans, therefore are valuable. However, although there is a significant increase in the demand of long-term care insurance products in the past several recent years, to date the popularity of such product is still limited. In this essay, we summarize the historical development of commercial long-term care insurance products in Taiwan, and provide analyses regarding the future prospect of this product. | en_US |
