dc.description.abstract | Aquaponics, a circulating ecosystem, is a food cultivation method which is environmental- friendly. In the production of Aquaponics, chemical herbicides or pesticides are not allowed, so the crops are spray-free, close to organic, and thus create higher economic value. In addition, Aquaponics, being superior in environmental protection, can be a sustainable green industry. As a result, it provides the motivation for a business start-up.
Taking advantage of this concept, this study proposes a new business startup plan, aiming at establishing an aquaponics farm. This study starts out with an analysis of the environment, and based the business plan on the “Business Model Canvas” framework proposed by Osterwalder & Pigneur. Analysis includes defining the value proposition, locating the customer segment, planning the channels for sales and customer relationship, designing key activities, identifying key resources and partnerships, and verifying cost structure as well as revenue streams, including all aspects form the supply chain to the customer sales. Furthermore, robustness analysis in costs and revenues, with different assumptions are analyzed. Last, a feasibility study analysis is conducted according to the afore-mentioned plan and evaluation to determine the business plan is viable. | en_US |
