dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, a series of supramolecular compounds and coordination polymers were synthesized by the reaction of the organic ligand, 2,5-(thiophenediyl)dibenzoic acid (H2TDB), and different types of metal ions via self-assembly processes. Their structures and properties were studied and discussed.
Compound [Zn(TDB)(H 2 O)] n (1), [Co(TDB)(H2O)2]n (2), and [Cd2(TDB)2(H2O)3]n (3), were produced by the reaction of zinc salts, cobalt salts or cadmium salts, respectively, with the H2TDB ligand. The structures of the compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Compounds 1 and 3 adopt 2D structures and compound 2 forms a 3D structure. Because of the d 10 electron orbital of metal centers (Zn in 1 and Cd in 3) and the luminescence property of H2TDB, the luminescence properties of these compounds were investigated. In addition, the space group of compound 2 showed that it has a non-centrosymmetric structure, so its circular dichroism and nonlinear optical property were examined.
Compounds [Ln2(TDB)3(NMP)(H2O)]n (Ln = Tb (4)、Eu (5) and Gd (6), NMP = 1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone) were synthesized by the reaction of terbium salts, europium salts, orgadolinium
salts with the H 2 TDB ligand. A series of isostructures with 2D layers were produced and their luminescence properties were also studied and discussed.
Compound [Mg(TDB)(H2O)2]n (7) was synthesized by treating a magnesium salt with the H2TDB ligand. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis showed that compound 7 adopts a
2D structure. Its luminescence property was also examined through emission studies. | en_US |
