dc.description.abstract | Printed circuit boards are one of the critical components in modern technologies. In Taiwan, the industry has been highly developed, which plays an important role for products of all kinds worldwide. However, with the emergence of competitive Chinese companies and the recent China-US trade war, since most Taiwanese manufacturers have invested in Mainland China, it becomes a serious issue to deal with various future situations.
Since PCB has a wide range of applications with large amounts of companies in the industry, in this research we explain in brief the basic categories of PCB products, their applications and manufacturing processes. Then we discuss the development of the industry within Taiwan and worldwide. In the past, the industry chain had migrated from developed countries to developing countries due to several reasons, rendering China the biggest country in production, where many companies and factories are invested by Taiwanese manufacturers. For them, how to make decisions under certain circumstances is an important topic.
In this paper we also use the Structure-Conduct-Performance Model, or SCP, to analyze the PCB industry. Then we further propose several strategies for potential situations caused by the China-US trade war.
Finally, we draw a conclusion that, to face possible situations, there are three strategies worth considering: enhancement of technical capabilities, increase of market diversity and alliance between companies. | en_US |
