dc.description.abstract | The continual evolution and innovation in digital technology, including rapid progress in artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things, robotics, 5G, and cloud computing has ushered in a new stage in the industrial revolution. A number of manufacturing strategies for operating in this new environment have been put forward, among which the concept of “Industry 4.0” is gradually gaining popularity in the world. In the era of Industry 4.0, along with changes in work content and tasks, there are new requirements for workers′ knowledge, skills and abilities including an increased importance for flexibility, abstraction, problem solving, independence, communication and self-organization. With Industry 4.0, continuous attention should be paid to the organization of work and the training of workers. This work adopts a case study method to investigate the role of human resource management in the Industry 4.0 environment, and explores the capabilities that human resource professionals should strengthen to achieve corporate goals.
Based on project participation, interviews, and analysis of literature, this work finds that:
1. Human resource management can create value throughout the digital transformation of an enterprise. However, it is necessary to change traditional methods into innovative and value-oriented work content and provide high-quality services.
2. Human resource management must adapt to new technology. Human resource personnel must be able to use new analytical techniques and tools enabled by new technology to influence company decisions.
