zh_TW
While the Industrial Revolution kickstarted human economic growth, it also rapidly accelerated the impact of climate change by releasing greenhouse gasses into the air. The frequency of disasters has been increasing all over the world in the past few years. Taiwan is also vulnerable to these disasters. Taiwan is located in the Circum-Pacific seismic belt and subtropical monsoon zone. Therefore, monsoons, typhoons or earthquakes occur very frequently in Taiwan. These events have the potential to cause severe flooding in many areas of Taiwan every year. Excessive rain can sometimes even trigger flash floods, landslides, or debris flows. Earthquakes are common in Taiwan; they can cause enormous financial losses and even pose a threat to the lives of local residents. The purpose of this research is to design and develop an easy-to-use platform to identify potential natural hazards in Taiwan and hopes to raise public awareness of disasters and the importance of prevention and preparedness to reduce the impact of the disasters. The platform integrates the information from many different disaster-prone areas and hazard maps. Catastrophic disasters are more likely to be caused by multiple disaster events instead of just one disaster event. By defining rating factors for each type of disaster and calculating the severity score of each disaster and based on a comprehensive hazard score, users can understand each disaster′s information easily. Developers could also make use of the API from the platform as well as develop new services.en_US
