dc.description.abstract | The reason for conducting this study is to understand more about the development trend of MIS over the years. We hope to achieve the purpose of this research by exploring the evolution of MIS, that is, to better understand what MIS is and how the past research field of MIS is different from the current one. There are two critical aspects of this study. The first one is in the research field. There are not many related papers on the trend of MIS with ICIS. We hope to discuss more associated issues from different perspectives. The second one is in the field of education. We expect the related department of information management can use the research results of this study as a reference for future courses in the.
This study uses ICIS papers from 1997 to 2021 as research materials and analyzes them with the grounded theory research method. When we did our analysis, we found that the most frequently occurring keyword in all papers between 1997 and 2010 was “Knowledge Management.” The most frequented keyword between 2011 and 2021 was “Social Media,” and it was also the most frequented keyword between 1997 and 2021. In 2020 and 2021, the keywords “Machine Learning” and “Artificial Intelligence” became the most frequent keywords in those years. In addition, the keyword “Trust” also appeared in many papers. We use these five keywords to conduct a grounded theory analysis and identify 18 categories. I find that among these categories, the category with the most significant number of papers between 2011 and 2021 is “Human Behavior.” After this category is linked to the two keywords “Machine Learning” and “Artificial Intelligence,” it is found that the topic is related to “Human-AI Collaboration,” and the number of papers on this topic may increase in the future. In recent years, ICIS has also increased research topics in emerging areas. In addition, we also use keywords to make many attempts, such as using the connections between keywords to find the development process of IT/IS.
However, this paper has its research limitations. Since there are no keywords in the ICIS papers from 1980 to 1996, we cannot use keywords to analyze the trend of MIS during this period. If we need to study further the changes during this period in the future, we need to find another way. | en_US |
