dc.description.abstract | In a highly competitive globalization market, corporation usually have to strengthen their competitive edge for survival. In my country, domestic vendors supply server to many international tier one brands. So to speak, it plays an import role in the world. As the server industry has been in a state of transition in recent years, Taiwan corporations take possession of a considerable share due to 5G and clouding-service demand increasing.
This paper applies the framework of the economic theory (Structure-Conduct-Performance, S-C-P) to analyze the market structure, manufacturer′s behavior, industry performance and recent development in Taiwan′s server industry, meanwhile, for OEM/ODM, review the transformation and future development, as well as make the relevant suggestions for this industry.
The results of this study can describe as follows. First, from structure of market, Taiwan’s server industry is a highly oligopolistic market with high specifications and high technology, that it is very difficult for new competitor. Despite, manufacturers the technical capabilities and product quality are similar, so the market still is a highly competitive. From conduct of manufacturer, through the difference in pricing and bring the higher profits to corporation by developing new functions, improving performance, enhancing product differentiation, carrying out the mergers and acquisitions, to be end to form economy of scale with the vertical integration. From performance of industry, the server industry has high revenue and high profits by supply high-performance computing and 5G products.
Analysis and exploration of the Taiwan′s server industry, this study puts forward some suggestions for the Taiwan’s server industry for reference. Frist of all, starting from innovation, research, and development, from passively accepts the specifications to should be more creating new products and function from market point of view. Secondly, ability to integrate software and hardware, Taiwan server manufacturers are good at hardware development, if the ability to integrate software and hardware will increase values. Finally, establish the B2C business model, directly to sale products to customs without agents, it can increase more profit. | en_US |
