dc.description.abstractThe study of formation and timing-fluctuations of 3D to 2D transition driven by quantum size effect (QSE) in the growth of multi-layer 2D Pb islands on Si(111) surfaces at low temperature; growth formation of self-organized nanopucks on Pb quantum islands and phase transition of nearly monolayer of Pb on Si(111) surface are investigated by low temperature scanning tunneling microscope (LT-STM).
