| dc.description.abstract | About the legend of Wang –Ye, people are unable to agree or decide which is right and
it is believed that Wang-Ye were the god of plague. From Ming, Ching dynasty, the disciples
built temples for Wang-Ye who was the joss drifted from Mainland China. It is not so much
the superstition as people remember with gratitude, then in return for Wang-Ye’s kindness.
The thesis in this writing is about the following points: first, discuss the origin of Wang-Ye.
There are many ways to talk about Wang-Ye. Some people say that He is the god of
plague—sacrificed for people, other people say that He is Zheng Cheng Gong. It is an
interesting issue about the common currency and change in each time. Second, Wang-Ye
changed from the god who everybody scared to the god who everyone worships. Third, by the
belief and the legend in Wang-Ye, we can see the unsteadiness and the helplessness in
people’s life. Then, everyone thanks god and consecrate Wang-Ye, that’s a way to remember
where one’s happiness comes from.
The stem of the report adopts the annals of ancient books and records, including the
field trips in Tainan—Nai Kuen Shen and Pingtung—Tung Lung Temple. It’s a good subject
to discuss the differences between these two temple. Many precursors had done lots of
researches in detail, even talked about the ceremony, Burning Wang-Ye’s Ship. So, this report
treats fewer process about the ceremony or Wang-Ye’s temple. The most important is that
people how to change the fear from Wang-Ye into dedicating Wang-Ye eagerly, then, made
Wang-Ye bless people to have plentiful fishing harvest and punish his worst offense people.
In the modern society, more and more people feel their heart more and more empty. So,
there are many people worshiping for fortune, peace and health. Wang-Ye could help people
recover from plague, he is a unique god who is august. By means of above points, people
conscious of the respect of Wang-Ye and face the dilemma of living. This is the most valuable
