dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study is to identify factors related to parent’s selection for children in cram school. The participants of this study included students of second grade, fourth grade and sixth grade at three elementary schools in Chung-Li city, Taoyuan country .
The questionnaire of this study was developed by the researcher. Descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, chi-square test and multiple comparisons Schaffer methods statistical techniques were used to analyze the data collected.
The primary findings are as follows:
1.When the grades of the students are lower, they are more likely to attend nursery. In contrast, when the grades of the students are higher, they are more likely to attend the classes after school and talent and skill school.
2.The second grade, fourth grade and the sixth grade schoolchild participate in the type which parents concern most in terms of the schoolchild grade, the school type, number of the family children, the parents education level, the parents working condition, the parents age and the household income.
3.The parents’ motivations for allowing their children to attend cram school are “the schoolwork factor” and “the family factor”. Moreover, parents in lower education level can be influenced by “nine years consistent curriculum” when they choose the cram school for their child.
Finally, based upon the various findings of this research, we make recommendation to the Ministry of Education, the parents of students in order to improve the industry of cram schools and to be the reference for further researchers. | en_US |
