dc.description.abstract | The study focused on the flow experience of workers in information software industry. The concept of flow was first introduced by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in his book Beyond Boredom and Anxiety (1975). Flow is characterized by high involvement, deep concentration, and one actting effortless. After reviewing flow experience, one will feel enjoyment and gratification.
Moreover, the study also focused on what the information software industry workers’ quality of working and quality of life. In addition, someone in flow state and then he will enjoy the process of work. Whether a person’s flow state influence positively job satisfaction is one of the issue the study will discuss. Besides, people can feel happiness and gratifaction after flow experience. In related literatures, feeling happiness and gratifaction will make people feel better in their life. Therefore, whether flow influence positively job satisfaction is the other issue the study will discuss.
The research subjects included software industry entrepreneurs, information workers that have completed in-service master programs, other information workers, and senior managers who have completed EMBA programs. The study used questionnaire to survey these subjects.
The results indicated that flow state, job satisfaction and life satisfaction exist significant difference between software industry entrepreneurs and information system technical workers. Software industry entrepreneurs’ degree of flow state, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction is higher than information system technical workers. Additionally, flow state positively influence job satisfaction and life satisfaction. Related discussions, limitations, and future research directions are discussed in this dissertation. | en_US |
