dc.description.abstract | This thesis includes three ODM related topics. This empirical study can clearly clarify those ambiguous factors in running ODM business. First topic is “The Moderating Effects of Partnerships on the Business Capabilities, Performances and Opportunities”. This study used a Questionnaire survey, LISREL, Manova analysis methods to investigate the study target of the ODM companies in Taiwan IT industry. The key issues include: (1) discussing the relationship and extent of influence between these six factors (Time-Based Manufacturing Practices (TBMP) capability, collaboration capability, market performance, logistic performance, product/production innovation and future business opportunities), (2) examining the proposed business capabilities and find out whether they would affect performance directly and influence future business opportunity (3) investigating whether the various type of partnerships may moderate ODM capabilities, performance and opportunities.
Second topic is “Achieving Quality Performance and Environmental Sustainability through the Genius Loci of Quality Management Systems”. This empirical study adopted a Questionnaire survey, Higher-order factor analysis methods to investigate the following three questions in ODM. (1) Confirming the existence and the intensity of the latent “genius loci” within quality management systems. (2) Confirming the extent of the genius loci with environmental sustainability. (3) Trying to understand whether a quality management system’s performance can be affected by its genius loci, and whether a quality management system’s environmental sustainability performance can be affected by the extent of environmental sustainability in its genius loci.
Third topic is “An Empirical Study on the Performance and Efficiency of the Global Direct Shipping Model”. This empirical study leveraged a Quasi-experiment design method, Anova analysis, Data Envelopment Analysis methods to investigate the ODM with the following issues: (1) to examine whether the design of the supply chain management model would reach expected performance, (2) to evaluate the Global direct shipping performance between the postponement units in different geographical regions, (3) to confirm whether the diffusion of responsibility/institutional effects would impact the performance of the GDS model, and (4) to examine the relative efficiency of the postponement unit practicing the same GDS model in different geographical regions. Sum up all finding from above studies regarding the ambiguous factors in running ODM business, therefore the ODM business model can be maintained in good shape after the mentioned issues are managed accordingly.
