dc.description.abstract | The Study is based on the picking operation of “Put-to-light” System. According to the picking operation in Distribution Centers, the Computer Aided Picking Systems could be divided into “Pick-to-light” and “Put-to-light”. In the “Pick-to-light” system, the digital tags on racks correspond to items and indicate pickers to pick items. In the other hand, the tags correspond to customers’ orders in the “Put-to-light” system. Pickers batch the necessary items of these orders and then assort the needed items to orders by the indication of tags.
This research will focus on item batching under the “Put-to-light” System’s picking operation circumstance, adding radio frequency identification(RFID) to increasing picking operation flexibility and information instantaneity in traditional put-to-light system’s circumstance, that will be flexible and efficient in the whole picking circumstance.
This research will divide into two phases. The first phase is seed-item selected method, the second phase is item batching selected method. Both methods are combined, and we call them item-batching methods. This research will focus on item-batching methods, collecting systematically and compare with them. We have seven methods for seed-item selected methods, eight methods for accompany item methods arranging with Nearest Picking Zone First(NPZF). Evaluation and Compared with their picking distance, we expect that will obtain the best combination to reduce total distance about picking distance, reducing time and cost about picking operation, and enhance their picking efficiency.
