dc.description.abstract | When the economy was booming, many Hakka people left their back home came to Chungli City, they all had a thick, hometown flavor of the Hakka, and also had innovation, toleration and traditional enthusiastic Hakka essence. Although a variety of Hakka traditional cultures in the historical development of Chungli City were passed on, those traditional Hakka scenery or food was gradually washed away and forgetton by "urbanization and modernize" of Chungli City. I hope that the Hakka ancestors’’ wisdom and culture will be found back through this study. The most important issue is to let people be aware of the importance of the Hakka culture and its heritage by getting the whole Chungli City civilians and those who care for the Hakka people involed in. By doing so, it may provide the authorities with the reference of policy formulation in future and relieve the worsening situation of invisibility of urban Hakka. Being a member of the Hakka descendants, I hope I can do my best to preserve the Hakka culture.
According to the findings on this issue of Chungli City, there are three cases happening. First of all, the Hakka use has a lowest ratio. Secondly, it is directly proportional to the age. The older, the more. Thirdly, The boundaries between district and the Hakka use has become increasingly blurred and the district is less influential in the Hakka use.The use of language is an indication of ethnic group. The disappearance of language is equivalent to the disappearance of an ethnic group. We should put aside our invisible anxiety and helpless, and be brave moving on in our own way.
