摘要(英) In today’s rapidly changing business environment, an organization’s ability to create and share knowledge is important for establishing and sustaining competitive advantage. In knowledge-based organization, knowledge-worker teams are used to leverage knowledge assets. This trend may explain a renewed interest in the research of knowledge processes of teams.
This research adopts transactive memory system (TMS) system to explore knowledge processes of teams. TMS has three dimensions, including specialization, coordination, and credibility. Taken from Self Determination Theory (SDT), this research investigates how perceived related impacts the three TMS’s dimensions. Besides, the study also explores how TMS impacts on team performance. This research conducted a field experiment and a total of 92 college students participated in an eight-week business simulation game. 19 teams each consisting of 4 or 5 members was either randomly assigned by the instructor in class A or voluntarily grouped by the participants in class B. Three-round questionnaires were collected from participants before- during-, and post-experiment.
This research found that when team members perceive they are supported and connected by other people, the three dimensions of TMS in teams will be enhanced, which will in turn promote team performance. The managerial implications and research limitations conclude the study.
