Compact Ionosphere Probe(CIP) is a modified version of Advanced Ionospheric Probe (AIP) which is a science payload for FORMOSAT-5 satellite. CIP is also an all-in-one plasma sensor that use single instrument to perform multiple sensor funcions–includes the Planar Langmuir Probe, the Retarding Potential Analyzer, the Ion Drift Meter, and the Ion Trap. Due to the reduced size of the instrument, CIP is suitable to be placed on a CubeSat. CIP will become the science payload of two satellite missions, one is the CubeSat mission with the United States and the India–International Satellite Program in Research and Education Satellite-1 (INSPIRESat-1), and the 3U satellite mission - Ionospheric Dynamics Explorer and Attitude Subsystem Satellite (IDEASSat) with NSPO. CIP can be divided into the part of the front end receiving the plasma and the circuit part of the back end processing signal. Since CIP has the prototype in circuit design, the focus of this paper will be on the fabrication of the receiving plasma part and the circuit design improvements,functional tests, and environmental tests. |
