摘要(英) Future personal communication systems (PCS) are expected to provide multimedia services to human being without the limitations of fixed transmission rate, time, and location, etc. As the number of PCS subscribers keeps augmenting, the volume of signaling and database access traffic will increase in the same time. In order to afford huge amount of PCS subscribers, signaling load must be eased with proper location management mechanism. Furthermore, for providing better Quality of Service (QoS) for mobile users, the bandwidth, response time, and reliability of individual connections will require to be adjusted dynamically. A good resource management mechanism can maximize overall system capacity and resource utilization.
Different multimedia traffic types have different QOS requirements. Real-time traffics, such as voice call and video conferencing, are delay sensitive, but non real-time traffics such as electronic mail aren’t. It is significant to maximize system capacity by proper resource management schemes such as power control and call admission control especially in the limited resource. The Code division multiple access (CDMA) system in new generation wireless network, system capacity is interference-limited, we consider the power of the users as controlled resources. Through assigning minimal sufficient power level for different traffic with individual QOS requirements, the system capacity becomes maximal.
In new generation wireless network, location management and maximizing system capacity are two main important issues. This thesis mainly addresses two areas: (1) Signaling Cost Analysis For Distributed Location Database; (2) Call Admission Control (CAC) with Optimal Power Control in CDMA.
