This study aims to explore the decision-making factors and their impacts on the selection of cloud ERP solutions during the digital transformation process in large manufacturing enterprises. By leveraging past ERP implementation project experiences, this research delves into why these enterprises chose the RISE with SAP solution over traditional on-premise architectures. Through a case study approach, the specific experiences of a large manufacturing company during its digital transformation process are analyzed in detail, highlighting the challenges and considerations faced when selecting a cloud ERP solution. The primary reasons for choosing SAP RISE with SAP were the need to reduce costs, enhance business agility, and accelerate digital transformation. However, the case company also encountered several challenges during implementation, such as hardware malfunctions, unstable dedicated line connections, and coordination issues with cloud providers. Ultimately, this study identifies three key factors and recommendations for successfully implementing cloud ERP: first, conducting a comprehensive assessment of the current ERP situation and requirements; second, ensuring that senior management possesses industry leadership capabilities to embrace the challenges brought by this choice; and finally, actively collaborating with ERP cloud software vendors rather than solely accepting the services provided. These steps are crucial to fully realizing the advantages and future vision that Software as a Service (SaaS) can bring to enterprises. This paper aims to provide a reference for other similar enterprises in making decisions and navigating the process of digital transformation. |
