In this study, we propose a 2D simulation of an efficient light-trapping scheme which can enhance the efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) by using micro-holes in substrate. The micro-holes in substrate of DSSCs can elongate the optical path length of incident light in order to improve the total absorption of the device. We use rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA) simulation and the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method to analyze the absorption of the 2D periodic structure. The results of the numerical simulation show the highest enhancement of the DSSCs at 14.1% for the hole depth of 1.28μm, width of 0.42μm and period of 0.44μm at the incident wavelength at 535nm.
